| Geoffrey Denhardt, an engineer with a
penchant for painting and foreign languages, chooses to work out his
enforced redundancy at a Paris subsidiary. He buys a left hand drive car
before departure, which soon reveals secrets about its former owner. Geoff
realises that he has become obsessed with Heike Baumann, presumed
dead. He eventually tracks her down, alive and well in Germany, and realises
that it is she who has killed. Geoff and his girlfriend Madeleine realise that what they had hoped would be a new start for both, is turning into a nightmare. Stylish writing, an authentic setting and an ingenious plot help make A Very European Death an unusual murder thriller, which should appeal to a wide range of tastes. | ![]() |
